2017 SAUVIGNON BLANC VAJGEN

2017 Sauvignon Blanc Vajgen

White wine

Grapes for Sauvignon Vajgen are sourced from a steep southerly oriented Vajgen vineyard just few hundred meters from our winery.
After aging in oak, it acquired deeper golden colour. Intense, aromatic, on the palate with notes of full ripe Sauvignon Blanc reminiscent of mango, papaya, passion fruit, caramel, honey and gooseberry, dried herbs and tomato leaves. Dry on the palate with medium acidities and full body. Tight, masculine, warm Sauvignon blanc showing its ripeness and gentle oak ageing. With good, lingering finish and mid-term ageing potential.

Full body and intense character call for dishes with similar attributes. Main courses with white meat and spicy sauces. Chicken curry.

  • Sauvignon Blanc: 100 %

2017 vintage brought a very warm summer and one of the earliest starts of the harvest. In mid-September grapes were affected by a longer period of rain. Early ripening varieties fared much better, while late-ripening varieties had much less quantity.

18 months in old 3500 l Slavonian oak barrels. Matured on fine lees.

  • Alcohol content: 14,50 % vol.
  • Acidity: 5,91 g/l
  • Residual sugar content: 1,7 g/l
  • Closure type: Cork

Already mature. Drink from 2020-2025.
