Red wine
Blaufränkisch is a native Slovenian variety that likes moderate climate and prolonged warm summers. The colour of this one is medium ruby with garnet tinges. On the nose it is medium intense, wide, varied and open. There is marked, well integrated aroma of oak ageing on the nose, combined with fine tertiary aromas of undergrowth and very ripe black and dark red fruits, pine, black pepper and dried herbs. Varied, compact. Dry with higher acidity levels, medium bodied. Tannins are fully ripe and soft. It is warm, quite rich while staying elegant. With a nice tension. Feels like being at its peak after eight years of ageing. Beautifully drinkable Blaufränkisch with good length.
Steak with peppery sauces, grilled dishes very food-friendly in general.
2012 was a warm, early and high-quality vintage with plenty of ripe and healthy fruit. Very similar to 2011 but a bit fresher with more acidity. It was a very fine vintage for Blaufränkisch.
