Wels­chriesling is the most planted grape vari­ety in Slov­e­nia as well as in our wine dis­trict. The col­our of our 2024 is pale lemon yel­low. Youth­ful and re­strained, very fruity on the nose show­ing clear fruit for­ward char­ac­ter dom­in­ated by con­tin­ental fruits such as apple, pear as well as cit­rus fruit. There is touch of yeast and peaches.

It is bone dry on the pal­ate with mod­er­ate acid­it­ies and lighter body. A touch of dis­solved CO₂ adds to the fresh­ness of the wine. Fla­vour char­ac­ter is milder, bal­anced with plenty of youth and vi­brancy. The af­ter­taste has a me­dium length and is pleas­ant We pro­duced yet an­other really nice Wels­chriesling.

This Wels­chriesling 2024 is not picky and will fit most of the cas­ual foods and oc­ca­sions. A great sum­mer or BBQ wine. A real friend.

The winter 2024 was mild, and all phen­o­phases star­ted very early. A heavy frost (April 22), rains after flower­ing and a hail­storm (July 13) decim­ated the har­vest, which was about 30% smal­ler than on av­er­age. High Au­gust tem­per­at­ures greatly ac­cel­er­ated the ripen­ing. The har­vest, the earli­est in memory, began around Au­gust 20 and mostly ended around Septem­ber 20. The crop is small, the qual­ity is very high, acid­ity levels are mod­er­ate, and the wines show clear vari­etal char­ac­ter­ist­ics des­pite the warm vin­tage.
