2013 BENEDICT RED - Red wine

2020 Benedict red

Red wine

It shows medium deep ruby with some garnet hues. Quite pronounced juicy, not hiding maturation in oak. Black fruits, black cherry, some, bit discrete of charred wood, plum. Inviting, seriously framed.

Pinot Noir fruitiness is dominant, Blaufränkisch adds some spicy notes. Pinot noir is also responsible for framing this one providing a backbone around which other two varieties are shaped.

Dry, medium bodied, with good acidity levels and good verticality. There is plenty of taste on the palate with supple tannins. Here we deal with a very pleasant, balanced and food friendly red. There aren’t many such wines in Slovenia in this price range and practically none in Štajerska Slovenija district.

Perfect with grill, cured meat, pasta, salami, pizza, as a barbeque wine.

  • Blaufränkisch : 55 %
  • Pinot Noir : 35 %
  • Zweigelt: 10 %

Vintage 2020 is second in a row, where harvest times were stretched well into October, which was very much a normality 20-30 years ago. Prolonged ripening was allowed enabling grapes to achieve perfect ripeness giving wines with medium to low alcohol levels retaining high acidity levels and varietal characters. All these are the attributes which wines from Štajerska Slovenia are famed for. We regard vintage 2020 as classic Styrian vintage.

18 months in Slavonian oak barrels and used French barriques.

  • Alcohol content: 13,50 % vol.
  • Acidity: 5,68 g/l
  • Residual sugar content: 0,1 g/l
  • Closure type: Stelvin Lux
